Criterion Systems’ rapid growth has created the need for a Technical Writer located in Washington, D.C.


  • Responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of IT/Cyber Security Policy and Governance technical documents using approved government formats and templates.

  • Gathers data and documentation necessary to prepare and edit technical documentation for all of the IT/Cyber Security Policy and Governance team including financial, CPIC, FITARA, ePMO, and other policy/governance disciplines.

  • Edits and/or writes articles, publications, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Research findings regarding IT/Cyber Security Policy and Governance, technical developments, and other news and information to present to a wide range of internal and some external audiences.

  • Interprets and administers documentation/communication policies and procedures.

  • Ensures all documents are version controlled through the specified QA system.

  • Adheres to all configuration management processes and procedures.

  • Provides technical expert recommendations and support to other documentation requirements.

  • Provides substantive, innovative feedback and recommendations regarding document content, flow, and organization.


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5 years of technical writing experience in an IT environment

  • US Citizenship

  • DOE “Q” Clearance or greater, OR a Department of Defense (DOD) Top Secret Clearance, with the capability to obtain a DOE “Q” Clearance through reciprocity
