The Principal Systems Test Engineer/Image Lab Lead performs and leads Operating System (OS) image development, testing, deployment and maintenance. Other responsibilities include:

  • Analyzes, plans, designs, develops, builds, tests, deploys and maintains various OS (Windows, Mac, and others) images

  • Defines, documents, and analyzes software/hardware design as well as Customer test requirements

  • Works with stakeholders to clearly understand and define test cases and user acceptance criteria that meet the Customer's mission requirements

  • Develops and maintains test plans that address unit, functional, system, integration, regression, user acceptance and operational acceptance testing

  • Defines, analyzes and determines efficient and pragmatic test development and support approaches in a multi service provider IT ecosystem

  • Prepares test environment, test data, test plans, testing tools/technology and test scripts to support quality enterprise system testing

  • Develops, maintains and updates all test documentation to include test plans, SOPs, and others

  • Creates and supports test data and test cases

  • Analyzes test execution data, captures lessons learned, develops and recommends improvements

  • Engages in root cause analyses to include the reproduction and documentation of defective test information

  • Significant experience developing, testing, maintaining and deploying OS images in a platform agnostic IT environment

  • Understanding and experience supporting testing efforts in a virtualized environment

  • Participates in and supports these testing levels - unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, enterprise system testing, user acceptance testing, operational acceptance testing, etc.

  • Supports technical program reviews to include Technical Readiness Reviews (TRR), Operational Readiness Reviews, and others

  • Understands and estimates resource requirements needed to support testing efforts in a large IT Infrastructure Services ecosystem

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned

  • Participates in special projects as required


i) Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

ii) Desired Certification: ITILv3, Scrum Master


i) 8-10 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis

ii) 6 - 8 years hands-on experience developing, deploying and maintaining OS images (Windows, Mac, and others)

iii) Significant hands-on experience with test case writing, test case scripting, test case execution

iv) Significant hands-on experience performing independent verification and validation (IV&V) analysis

v) Strong understanding and experience performing testing quality assurance planning

vi) Considerable understanding and demonstration of Agile Scrum Testing Methodologies

vii) Knowledge and experience with the following: System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) server 2012

viii) Knowledge and experience with DeployStudio

ix) Understanding and experience with VDI Infrastructure

x) Programming experience with C, C#, Python, PowerShell, Visual Basic.NET
