Only applications of individuals with disabilities will be considered at this time.* Job Description:Skookum, an award winning, non-profit organization seeks a Master Vehicle Mechanic to support The Fleet Maintenance at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions:Follow the proper procedures pertaining to shop safety, standing environmental regulations, maintenance practices and principles and completion of required work order documentation.Perform service, inspections, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of equipment to include, but not limited to, wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment, propane, natural, gas, battery, gasoline and diesel engine-powered vehicles; light, medium, and heavy equipment; trailers.Perform inspection and repair on various brake systems, suspension, wheels, hubs and steering systems, drive- train components and electrical systems.Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repairs. Perform maintenance and repairs on A/C systems.Qualifications:Must be Master Mechanic with ASE or equivalent certification, and MACS or equivalent certification. Must have light, medium, and heavy truck experience; minimum three years of verifiable experience.Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair.Ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, various brake systems, drive-train components, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.Excellent communication skills.Ability to use computers and vehicle maintenance computer software and Microsoft applications.Basic operating knowledge of Tactical HMMWV'S and engineering equipment.Military and or commercial maintenance background preferred.Ability to obtain OSHA 10 hour Industrial Safety Course with-in 30 days of start date.Security Requirements:Must be able to pass a background check, online DOD Cyber Awareness Course and obtain a Common Access Card.Driving Requirements:Valid State Driver License (CDL A) is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance carrier.
