Harris Corporation is seeking a highly-motivated self-starter to join the Government Relations team as Manager for International Government Relations.
The selected candidate will represent Harris Corporation to the US Government (Legislative and Executive Branches) on legislative, policy and regulatory matters in the areas of global international security assistance policy and other assigned issues to support the objectives of the business units. The Manager for International Government Relations will also represent Harris Corporation with foreign embassy officials, foreign government delegations and relevant industry associations. Objectives for the role will be to identify revenue streams for Harris products and systems, support global business objectives and government relations priorities working with internal and external stakeholders, and leveraging strategic partnerships to influence requirements development.
A successful candidate will be detail-oriented and flexible and enjoy the challenge of supporting a function with responsibility across sectors of the corporation. This position will be part of the Harris Government Relations team in Washington, DC, reporting to the Director for International and Industry Engagement.
Conduct analysis of President’s Budget Request in the context of Harris international programs
Analyze major US and foreign government aerospace, commercial, and defense initiatives and policy proposals and communicate how these policies affect Harris.
Coordinate and track US government advocacy services with relevant USG agencies and U.S. Embassies around the world.
Represent Harris Corporation before foreign governments at embassies and consulates in the Washington, D.C. region and visiting delegations.
Collaborate with GR team members and business segments in support of strategic business objectives.
Develop and strengthen relationships with key Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and Committees on Capitol Hill, especially those responsible for authorization and appropriations related to security assistance and building partner capacity programs
5-7 years of experience with government or government relations.
Experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS)/US Budget Process relating to security assistance
Master’s degree preferred
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong strategic thinker, able to tackle complex issues both strategically and tactically, and develop innovative, results-driven solutions
Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing forward-looking, proactive, comprehensive approaches to critical policy issues
High level of proficiency in windows-based software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
