U.S. Bank Federal Government Affairs Director (Lobbyist) in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia

U.S. Bank seeks a candidate with significant experience in Washington, D.C. to manage federal government relations and public policy issues. The position will develop and implement proactive strategies for federal government affairs and policy issues that impact U.S. Bank, and will approach these matters purposefully and strategically.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to internal and external resources to ensure effective lobbying efforts to protect and expand the business.

  • Develop, foster, and strengthen relationships with key members of the relevant legislative and regulatory bodies, and other third-party allies. Ensures influence with decision-makers in positions to impact important regulation and legislation.

  • Proactively move a vision into practical plans that promote company objectives through compelling advocacy in government at the federal level.

  • Work with the government relations team to provide thought leadership, advice, and guidance in key policy areas as it relates to policy direction and strategies for advocacy.

  • Establish and maintain high-level contacts with a wide variety of industry and non-industry individuals, groups, and community leaders to collaborate on compelling or promoting government actions favorable to the company, including federal, state and local officials and regulators.

  • Actively engage in lobbying activities and advocacy efforts with federal legislative and regulatory organizations, agencies, as well as their staff.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure timely federal regulatory approvals and actively work to find reasonable compliance resolutions.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualification –

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or Law degree preferred.

  • 5 years of Federal Government or Federal Lobbyist experience.

Preferred Qualifications -

  • Strong experience in public policy advice and awareness.

  • Strong contacts in the legislature/federal agencies.

  • Thorough understanding of the legislative process.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to meet and manage deadlines.

  • Strong research and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated project management and implementation skills.
