This position is located in the Office of External Affairs, Office of Communications.
The Peace Corps Social Media Specialist serves as the voice of Peace Corps on the agency's national social media accounts. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the Peace Corps brand and audience engagement across social media platforms, and serving as a strategist for social media platform use, content development and campaigns, as well as providing oversight for post social media.

The Public Affairs Specialist (Social Media) performs the following major duties:
- Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders on the social media outreach strategy.
- Implements a social media program by coordinating with domestic and overseas stakeholders to incorporate social media into agency programs.
- Manages a high-quality customer relations plan for responding to and supporting the agency's target audiences on social media, including running interactive events and developing processes for routing audience questions and feedback to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Monitors social media content provided by partner offices across the agency and by posts for adherence with brand and tone.
- Researches and presents information and data on social media trends and best practices

Intelligence Background Information
Peace Corps Manual Section 611 is applicable to this position. This section prohibits the employment of certain persons previously engaged in intelligence activities or connected with intelligence agencies within the past 10 years. If you have ever worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), you are not eligible for employment at the Peace Corps in any capacity, and you should not apply for employment.

You must meet the specialized experience at the grade level(s) in which you choose to be considered by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date of the announcement. FP-7 Qualifying experience for the FP-7 grade level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-9 or GS-5 grade level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Experience within the field of public affairs/social media; Experience with practices, policies, and procedures to perform public affairs assignments; Experience communicating orally and writing in a clear, concise, organized and convincing manner for the intended audience.
