The Senior Project Manager and Technical Lead directs campus-wide enterprise desktop projects and establishes best practices for ensuring a reliable, cost efficient, scalable and secure desktop computing environment for faculty and staff. As a senior project manager, the position is required to develop appropriate business cases for enterprise wide projects including identifying cost/benefits, risk analysis, capital and operating expenditures, technical road maps, staff resource management, and project timelines/deliverables/milestones. The position will manage cross functional teams including team leaders, engineers, system administrators and end user support staff.
The position provides technical leadership and implements industry best practices by providing oversight to a group of 20+ technical desktop support specialists and team leaders who manage a 4,000+ user system. In this role, the position has decision making authority to set process, technical requirements and standards to be executed by technical staff. Position will regularly interact with senior enterprise software, security, and network engineers to integrate the desktop computing and non-enterprise server environment into the campus-wide authentication architecture. This requires advanced knowledge of trends operating system and client application requirements and security developments.
As an individual contributor, the position develops, builds, and implements advanced system solutions to centrally managed client security, O/S configurations, and application deployment. Position provides advanced solution support for non-enterprise, specialized work group server, applications and desktop integration with non-standard devices such as research instrumentation or more complex office productivity requirements.
This individual reports to the Associate Director of Academic & Information Technology Services.
