Job Duties and Responsibilities
ManTech is seeking an experienced scientist to provide subject matter expertise in support of homeland security science and technology projects. The successful candidate will have proven research and development (R&D) experience in relevant domains relevant to the development of advanced technologies applicable to the homeland security environment. Serving as a trusted technical advisor to government project managers, it is highly desirable that the candidate possess knowledge of the homeland security operational community including missions (e.g. Borders and Maritime Security, Aviation and Intermodal Transportation Security, Chem/Bio Defense, Critical Infrastructure Protection, etc.), operations, needs and cross-organizational interfaces.
General Responsibilities:
* Maintain awareness of the state-of-the-art advances in the applicable scientific/technical domain field of expertise and relevant applications to the homeland security environment.
* Assist customer in understanding end-user requirements, high potential advanced technologies and approaches to achieve operational solutions.
* Assist customer in defining scientific and technology project objectives, scope, technologies, methods, and evaluation criteria for proposals.
* Assess scientific and technical validity of proposed research methodologies and technologies; evaluate likelihood of project success; and, report results to the customer.
* Provide scientific and technical recommendations to improve research results and intended operational solution as appropriate.
* Monitor technical performance of scientific experiments and/or R&D projects; evaluate performer’s progress and performance; and, report findings to the customer.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering or related highly analytical field of study; Masters strongly desired.
- 5-7 years experience providing technical management support across advanced technology project portfolios in a complex R&D and/or system development environment.
Other Skills Required:Must be customer and mission focused,engaging in an open free exchange of ideas that challenge the status quo and seek better and more efficient ways of doing business, and working in a positive, professional and collaborative manner. This position requires demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, excellent oral and written communication skillsand superiorinterpersonalskills. Efficient use of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint software.
Clearance: The ability to obtain a Secret clearance and a favorable Suitability Background Investigation and to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required. A current DHS or DHS Component Suitability strongly desired.
Qualifications Requires Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Radiology, or Nuclear Science and two to four years of related experience.
Additional Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering or related highly analytical field of study; Masters strongly desired.
